E27. Evaluating Hysterectomy for Non-neoplastic Indications: Reducing Unwarranted Variation (audio)

In this episode of Talking O&G: a RANZCOG Podcast, host Conj A/Prof Tania Day speaks with A/Prof Natasha Frawley about hysterectomy for non-neoplastic indications. They draw on the results of A/Prof Frawley’s retrospective audit cohort study evaluating adherence to the Clinical Care Standard for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding in regard to benign hysterectomy at her hospital. 

Conj A/Prof Day and A/Prof Frawley explore aspects of the Clinical Care Standard, such as evaluating contributors to abnormal uterine bleeding, assessment for anaemia, access to quality pelvic ultrasound, and treatment options. They discuss when hysterectomy may be appropriate for non-malignant indications and advice for clinicians and health services that are implementing these standards locally.
