Welcome to Leo season! In this month’s episode we welcome Bradley Sneddon and Andreas Erneus, ongoing translators of the ‘Summa Sacre Magice - The Summa of Sacred Magic’, a text collated in the 14th century by the first of the author magicians, the enigmatic Berengarius Ganellus.
Today Bradley, Andy and I talk about the importance of this text, what we know about its author and the surviving manuscripts, as well as the dizzying complexity of its contents. We consider the sources Ganell drew from, and the influences this material has had on history.
We talk about magical Linguistics, practical theology, voces magice, demonic hierarchies, the nature of the Winds, cosmological structures, and much much more.
