What does it mean to be a church that is rooted in God's Word and alive in the power of His Spirit?

In this Vision Sunday message, we explore the vision for Freedom Church Romford to be a Word and Spirit church. Drawing from Jesus' conversation with the Samaritan woman in John 4, we see His call for true worshippers to worship the Father "in spirit and truth".

The message explores the dangers of separating the two. Spirit without truth can become shallow and driven by temporary emotional experiences, while truth without Spirit can become dry, passionless and legalistic. Instead, we want both: a church saturated in Scripture, grounded in the gospel and committed to biblical teaching, while also making space for prayer, spiritual gifts, faith, expectation and the active work of the Holy Spirit.

This vision isn't simply about what happens from the front on a Sunday. It's an invitation for every one of us to grow in both the Word and the Spirit — sharing what God is teaching us through Scripture and what He is doing in our lives through His Spirit.
