Gabrielle grew up in a deeply religious LDS home, but from a young age, she often felt like being herself meant disappointing God.

In this conversation, she shares her journey from rebellious teenage years, to serving a mission, marriage and motherhood, and eventually beginning to untangle God from religion and other people’s expectations.

We talk about learning to trust yourself, questioning beliefs without abandoning God, living in the uncomfortable middle, allowing your children to choose their own path, and discovering that your desires and intuition may actually be one of the ways God speaks to you.

Gabrielle's perspective is honest, thoughtful and refreshingly nuanced. Her story is a reminder that faith doesn’t always have to mean certainty—and sometimes getting closer to God begins with becoming more honest about who you are.

And maybe the thing we most need to understand about our younger selves is this: you were always a good seed.
