Two men face each other on an empty street. The town falls silent. One reaches for his gun. It’s the defining scene of the Hollywood Western. But how often did it happen?
In this episode of Way Out West, you'll hear about the real shooting between Wild Bill Hickok and Davis Tutt, the far messier fight near the O.K. Corral, and the working cowboys whose lives rarely resembled either one. Gun violence was real in the Old West. The high-noon showdown is a different story.
