In this interview, I sit down with John Priestman, chairman of the nonprofit organization uNHIdden, to explore how the biggest threat from UFOs so far is the denial of deleterious health impacts from contact and poor planning around disclosure.
Unaddressed, these issues could make future UFO revelations catastrophically destabilizing, which means more lives and money lost.
UNHIdden researches the physical and psychological impacts of UAP phenomena, and lobbies for governments and other institutions to take the issue seriously, and to treat experiencer patients with care and respect.
We discussed uNHIdden's three published white papers, including one that presents a preparedness plan for potential post-disclosure mental health crises. Priestland outlines the plan's public health framework, which includes building what he calls "meaning resilience" through the creation of structured conversation groups.
He also advocates for the recruitment of trusted voices to help desensitize the public. The recent moves made by Dr. Phil may be an effort to do just that, he said.
Priestland argues that governments need to take the topic seriously and reduce stigma, while criticizing vague threat narratives that induce unnecessary anxiety.
The conversation also touches on the potential societal impacts of disclosure and the importance of rigorous research to understand ontological shock.
