Join Joe and author/historian Geoff Roecker as they discuss the WWII history of 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment. Based on Geoff’s book, This Hemisphere of Hell, this episode focuses on the early history of the battalion, to include the Marines and corpsmen that made up the unit, their motivations for joining the service, boot camp, and their early training that was undertaken to get them ready for service in the Pacific. It’s a fascinating look into what Geoff’s described as an, “average battalion filled with exception Marines.”
