Some nights the news is heavy enough that finding the good in it takes real effort. Tonight is built around doing exactly that, starting with a group of twelve-year-olds from Vancouver who just delivered Canada's best Little League World Series showing in decades, and did it after getting blown out in their opening game.

Their secret was not a coach's speech or a locker room strategy session. It was something a kid came up with, and it worked well enough to carry a team all the way back from a rough start. There is a version of that same trick that applies to anyone dreading their next Monday morning meeting.

A story out of the Bronx proves the same point on a different scale, where one small act of generosity kept growing long after the person who gave it had moved on. And if you have ever wondered what actually fuels a comeback, tonight settles the debate on the ice cream question too.
