Welcome to another episode of your weekly Marbella lifestyle podcast Marbella with Him & Her, presented by PJ Lopez @pjlopez1marbella and Hannah Murray @radiohannah.
This week they start with an apology for this episode being late because of an unusually busy weekend!
Hannah mentions the sad news of author Jeffrey Archer's passing and the fact that she has interviewed him several times over the years, the last one of which was last December. She replayed her interview after the news and spoke fondly about the conversations they had over the years.
She also talks about another interview she did with Gordon Simpson, an author of a golf related novel called Four Deadly Swings. During the interview he mentioned a few times a famous sports author called Dick Francis who used to be a jockey before writing crime novels. After his death, his son Felix Francis continued the series and in a strange coincidence, Hannah happened to be interviewing Felix right after the one with Gordon.
The main reason this week's episode is late was because on Friday Hannah headed to the Algarve for a get together with her friend Nikki. Both Hannah and Amy left on Friday and came back on Sunday. Listen to hear what they got up to in Portugal.
While Hannah was away, PJ decided to take himself off for a curry to the other Indian in San Pedro called Maurya before heading to the Hogan Stand. Listen to hear what he ate and the mixture of drinks he had during the night, and what time he crawled back home!
On Sunday Hannah came back from Portugal, got changed and went to the farewell party of her long-time colleague Steph Miller. It was a Japanese festival of food! When she got home from that, it was another quick turnaround to go to the International Theatre Studio's production of Four Old Broads on the High Seas. Both her father and Sheila were in the play along with many other friends. You can hear how it went and what they thought of it.
Hannah mentions some events coming up such as the Gibraltar Literary Festival with guest speakers such as Dame Prue Leith, Joanne Harris and Dame Penny Mordant. She also mentions a fantastic event coming up on Friday at the Sala Group’s Clubhouse, which is an evening with England and Liverpool hero John Barnes. There will be a Q&A with him followed by a dinner in an intimate setting.
PJ and Hannah give out some key events for the start of the San Pedro Feria including a dance festival in the church square, the parade around town and the fireworks display.
This week's Euro Weekly News articles include a food festival up and down the country called French Flavours. They also talk about some of Spain's favourite autumn and winter Spanish dishes and why people across Spain put a toilet roll in the fridge.
