Season 4 Bonus: The First Annual Lead It Like Lasso Awards đ
And the Golden Lasso goes to...
After ten episodes of Ted Lasso Season 4, we're doing something a little different.
Welcome to the first-ever Lead It Like Lasso Awards Show!
We've laughed, we've cried, we've debated Beard's questionable hairstyles, and we've spent far too much time trying to figure out why Ted's chair kept sinking.
Now it's time to recognize the moments, characters, and leadership lessons that made Season 4 memorable.
Nick and Marnie each selected their winners independently, without sharing their choices beforehand. And let's just say the results weren't always unanimous.
Ten awards. Three rounds. Two hosts. Plenty of opinions.
Round 1: The Leadership Awards
We begin with the heart of our podcast: leadership.
Who delivered the season's best leadership moment?
Who learned the most from their mistakes?
Who made the worst leadership decision?
And which character experienced the greatest transformation?
Nick makes the case that Ted stepping aside to become Alice's assistant might be the most powerful leadership moment of the entire season. Marnie champions Beard's ability to help Boots reconsider her resistance to wearing gloves.
We also explore Alice Chilton's remarkable growth, Rebecca's blind spots, and why individual ambition can sometimes undermine a team.
Round 2: The Heart of Richmond
This is where things get emotional.
Which moment made us unexpectedly tear up?
Who demonstrated what it really means to show up for another person?
And who best embodied the spirit of BELIEVE?
Mae takes center stage as we reflect on her remarkable legacy, from her unforgettable pregame speech to the final montage that left us both emotional.
We also celebrate the long-awaited return of the Diamond Dogs, now featuring their very first Cat Person.
And we discover that sometimes the most powerful way to support someone isn't to offer advice.
It's simply to be there.
Round 3: Only in Ted Lasso
Time to lighten things up.
Who delivered the best F-bomb?
What was the most satisfying Easter egg or callback?
And what was the funniest moment of Season 4?
We revisit Roy Kent's finest moments, Ted's army man, Keeley's makeup-based football commentary, and the hilariously unexpected reunion between Jamie, Roy, and âJump Around.â
And yes, we both go off the nomination board.
Apparently, we're not very good at following our own awards-show rules.
The Final Whistle
After the awards, we take a broader look at Season 4.
Did it live up to our expectations?
How does it compare to the original three seasons?
What surprised us most?
And which leadership lessons will stay with us long after the final whistle?
For Nick, one of the season's most powerful lines comes from Alice:
âDon't disappear when you feel inadequate.â
It's advice for Roy, for Ted, and for anyone who's ever struggled with imposter syndrome.
We also return to another important lesson: sometimes people don't need us to solve their problems. They just need us to listen.
And we revisit a question raised in the season finale:
Seasons 1â3 gave us BELIEVE. Did Season 4 give us BE ALIVE?
Maybe growth isn't about having everything figured out.
Maybe it's about embracing change, uncertainty, risk, and the messiness of being human.
Plus: A Surprise Bonus Award!
Marnie introduces The Higgins Award, honoring the best piece of advice from Season 4.
We share our selections and make one final plea for more Leslie Higgins wisdom in the seasons ahead.
We also discuss our predictions for Season 5, including Ted's future, Roy and Keeley's changing roles, and what Zelda might do with her 49% ownership stake.
And there's one mystery we still need solved:
Who the heck is Derek?
We Want Your Votes!
Which winners did we get right?
Which ones did we get completely wrong?
What awards should we have included?
Let us know your favorite moments and leadership lessons from Season 4!
And don't unsubscribe just because the season is over. We've got some fun bonus episodes planned while we wait for what's next.
