Hawk set aside everything else he had planned to make this one instead, and to let Dolly speak for herself through her own words.
The numbers are staggering, but they were never the point. Born the fourth of twelve children in a one room cabin in East Tennessee, to a father who could not read or write. She launched the Imagination Library in 1995 and it has mailed hundreds of millions of free books to young children around the world. Her Buddy Program paid Sevier County students to finish high school and cut the dropout rate. She gave a million dollars toward COVID vaccine research, then got the shot on camera. She funded wildfire and flood relief for her neighbors when they lost everything.
What comes through in every clip is the same thing. She wanted people to feel happy, seen, and loved.
