This week we are discussing Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, a Sega Master System game released in 1989 that follows a brave adventurer cursed into becoming a lizard after defeating the fearsome Meka Dragon. To break the curse, players must journey across Monster Land, defeat powerful dragons, and transform into a variety of unique creatures, each with their own abilities that unlock new paths and secrets. Blending fast-paced platforming, exploration, and light RPG elements, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap is widely regarded as one of the earliest and best examples of the Metroidvania genre, rewarding curiosity and backtracking with a world full of hidden treasures and memorable challenges.
