Story Transcript:

En: On an autumn day, when the leaves covered the ground like gold, Oksana stood by the window of the orphanage, looking at the horizon.

En: She dreamed of her home, of a family that would be waiting for her.

En: But for now, that was just a dream.

En: Ahead was the cultural festival at school, and Oksana knew it was her chance.

En: The orphanage was located on the edge of a small Ukrainian town.

En: Inside, in the classroom, there was lively chatter.

En: The children were hanging colorful ribbons and paper crafts.

En: Oksana, though she was only a 12-year-old girl, felt responsible for the younger ones.

En: She aspired to create the best cultural presentation to attract the attention of potential adoptive families.

En: Resources in the orphanage were limited.

En: Sometimes even the most basic necessities were lacking.

En: But Oksana didn't give up.

En: She decided to use materials she could find in nature.

En: Autumn was her ally.

En: Together with her friends Mykola and Dmytro, she went in search of colorful leaves, acorns, and chestnuts.

En: Upon returning to the orphanage, they started working.

En: They glued the leaves into garlands, turned acorns into animal figures, and chestnuts became decorations.

En: Everything had to look special.

En: Oksana tried to put her heart and soul into every detail of the presentation.

En: Finally, the day of the festival arrived.

En: The children filled the hall, and their creations became a true highlight.

En: Oksana held herself with confidence, though her heart was beating faster than usual.

En: The presentation was going successfully until suddenly everything halted: one of the poles to which the garlands were attached wobbled.

En: Everyone was worried, but Oksana didn't panic.

En: She quickly remembered how they braided wreaths with friends in the forest.

En: Instantly springing into action, she grabbed an extra garland she had stashed away just in case.

En: Oksana, Mykola, and Dmytro carefully adjusted the structure, and everything was back in order.

En: The audience applauded them.

En: They succeeded, despite everything.

En: That evening, Oksana didn't receive the family she dreamed of, but she found something equally important — faith in her own abilities and the support of her friends.

En: She realized that even in the most challenging situations, there is a way out if one has an open heart and believes in the better.

En: And so, under the starry sky, where the leaves rustled, Oksana felt warmth and satisfaction from a job well done.

En: It was the beginning of something new, and she knew her efforts would not go unnoticed.
