Before you listen to this episode, I want to ask something of you.
Please do not try to fix me.
Do not rush to make my grief smaller, explain it, or turn away from the discomfort of hearing a woman cry.
Simply notice what happens inside your body.
Do you tighten your chest? Hold your breathe? Become restless? Feel the urge to rescue me?
Do my tears awaken tears of your own–or reveal how far away from them you have learned to live?
What you are about to hear is not a performance. It is grief moving through a human body.
Most men have been taught how to solve a problem, manage a crisis, and continue performing while their own hearts are breaking. Very few have been taught how to remain present with a feeling they cannot control.
This is part of the work I now offer men: learning to breathe, move, feel, and stay present when something real enters the room through movement, conversation and embodiment .
Today, I am not going to teach vulnerability from a distance.
