It's the first time Kareem Wylie, CEO of Yup Life, and Shadeed Abdullah, Director, have sat down to answer questions since FOC: The Awakening was shut down by police and fire officials at Pier 2, Chaguaramas on 31 August 2026.
They get into it directly: the venue was approved for 10,000, but only around 6,500 people actually made it inside. The rest were left outside as the situation broke down at the gate. They break down what actually went wrong there, why the bottleneck happened, and whether more entry lanes would have changed the outcome. They respond to Island eTickets' claim that their system did not fail. They talk about why a free "Redemption" party was offered instead of refunds, and admit there are things they still can't speak on publicly while an investigation is ongoing.
They also open up about the other side of running Yup Life: the criticism that comes with success, why the same post that got no reaction with an old car suddenly becomes a problem with a nicer one, and what 12 years of building a business behind the scenes actually looks like.
No filter. No script. Just real conversation.
