Getting threatened for telling the truth would make most of us shrink back. Acts 4 shows something different: Peter and John stand before powerful leaders, refuse to deny what they’ve seen, and speak with a calm courage that can only be explained by the Holy Spirit. We sit with that moment and ask what it means for our own lives when comfort and obedience pull in opposite directions.
We walk through the story of the first persecution against the early church, from the arrest after the healing miracle to the bold declaration that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is risen and that salvation is found in no one else. We also reflect on the cornerstone image, the tension of public pressure, and the simple line that cuts through fear: we must obey God rather than people. If you’ve been wrestling with approval, silence, or the temptation to play it safe, this meditation gives language for courage that stays loving and clear.
Then the focus shifts to how the church responds together. Instead of praying for protection, the believers pray for boldness, and God answers by filling them again with the Holy Spirit. We also look at the chapter’s closing picture of unity and generosity, where resources are shared so no one is left in need, with Barnabas held up as a practical example. You’ll be invited into a short reflection, a daily affirmation for Spirit-filled courage, and a closing prayer that asks God to shake what needs to be shaken and strengthen what needs to stand firm.
