The U.S. government is taking additional steps to reduce visa overstays by expanding the visa bond program for visitor visa applicants. Travelers from certain countries must now post a refundable bond of $5,000 to $15,000 before they may enter the U.S. on a B-1/B-2 visa. This policy targets countries with high rates of noncompliance through visaoverstays,and aims to encourage timely departures.
