Older travelers often join group tours to destinations such as Xinjiang and Yunnan known for picturesque landscapes, while younger people favor independent trips to cities such as Chongqing and Shanghai, sometimes inspired by posts on Xiaohongshu, a lifestyle-focused social media platform.
