英语新闻丨中国数学家邓煜、王虹获菲尔兹奖，实现历史突破！

Two Chinese nationals were awarded the Fields Medal, regarded as the Nobel Prize of mathematics, on Thursday, marking the first time Chinese nationals have received the prestigious honor.
两名中国籍数学家于当地时间7月23日早晨斩获菲尔兹奖。菲尔兹奖素有 “数学界诺贝尔奖” 之称，此次获奖也创下中国籍学者首次摘得这一重磅奖项的纪录。

Wang Hong and Deng Yu shared this year's award with John Pardon from the United States and Jacob Tsimerman from Canada at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Philadelphia. The achievement also marks the first time that two Chinese nationals have won the Fields Medal in the same year.
本届菲尔兹奖颁奖典礼于美国费城举办的国际数学家大会上举行，王虹、邓煜与美国数学家约翰・帕登、加拿大数学家雅各布・齐默曼共同获奖。这也是史上首次有两名中国籍数学家在同一年度拿下菲尔兹奖。

First presented in 1936, the award, which is considered one of the highest honors in the field, is given every four years by the International Mathematical Union, and recognizes mathematicians under the age of 40 for their outstanding contributions to mathematics.
菲尔兹奖于 1936 年首次颁发，被视作数学领域最高荣誉之一，由国际数学联盟每四年评选一次，表彰 40 周岁以下、在数学领域作出杰出贡献的数学家。

Both Wang and Deng enrolled at Peking University in 2007. With their recognition, China has become the fifth country — after the USA, France, the United Kingdom and Russia — to produce two Fields Medalists at the same ceremony, and the first Asian country to achieve the distinction.
王虹与邓煜二人于 2007 年考入北京大学。凭借此次两人同时获奖，中国成为继美国、法国、英国、俄罗斯之后，第五个在单届颁奖礼诞生两名菲尔兹奖得主的国家，同时也是首个达成这一成就的亚洲国家。
