When somebody you love is going through hell, one of the least helpful things you can say is, “Let me know if you need anything.”
Even though we mean well, this question adds one more thing to think about.
The person who’s going through a sh!t time now has another job: figuring out what they need, asking for it, and coordinating your help.
So today, I want to give you a few simple ways to actually care for someone going through a difficult season but without trying to fix them, give them advice, tell them they need better boundaries or spend a bunch of money on them.
In this short episode, I share simple, practical ways to lighten someone’s load, and perhaps even help improve their mental health by reducing the number of decisions they have to make.
Kindness isn’t always about grand gestures or spending a ton of money. Sometimes it’s as simple as giving someone a little bit of their capacity back.
love,
Nadine
