This is the second episode of a two part seires on the end of the Viking Age. In this story we dive head first into the conflict between two rulers, Sweyn Forkbeard of the Danes and the Saxon King Ethelred as they battle for control of England. 

 

While one of these leaders is remembered by history as a feirce warrior ahd shrewed poltical actor, the other is considered an abject failure. But great men are not the only ones who turn the gears of history. In this case, the failures of Ethelred managed to become at least partially responsible for one of the ideas we hold most sacred in our world today.
