What is respect, really? Something we deserve, something we can demand, or something we have to earn? James brought this one to the table, and it became one of my favorite talks we have had in a while.
The old Hebrew unlocked it for me. Honor is something we are called to give every person because they bear God's image. Respect, the kind that means admiration for character, is earned. So how do you honor a parent, a boss, or a judge you disagree with and still hold healthy boundaries? We dig into the story of Job, Paul's charge to young Timothy, and how Jesus himself never demanded the respect he was owed.
