State police examiner Nicholas Guarino searched Matthew Farwell's phone on February 9th, 2021, found no messages with Sandra Birchmore, and returned it. Days earlier he'd unlocked Sandra's laptop using a password she'd set to Farwell's own name. Prosecutors say Farwell wiped his messages after his first state police interview. The FBI later found tens of thousands of them. On the stand, Guarino also admitted deleting a partial extraction of Sandra's laptop, being unable to read her Apple Watch, and losing track of when an external hard drive failed. Bob Motta joins Tony live to explain what a forensic examiner is supposed to do when Sandra's password is the suspect's name, and what the defense does with an evidence trail this broken. Farwell is charged federally with killing Sandra and her unborn child and staging a suicide. His lawyers say she took her own life.
