Jessica Chastain plays a mother and um…..other mother in Rob Savage’s dark fairy tale from Blumhouse / Atomic Monster. But is it the worst horror movie of 2026?
No…we are not strictly a horror movie review podcast channel, but since horror is having a year (Hellllo? Obsession and Backrooms?) the power of Blumhouse / Atomic Monster compels Cupcake (Jose) and WillDaBeast (Mike) to check out Rob Savage’s new supernatural horror - demonic Mommy - You in Danger, GRLLLL horror film, starring Jessica Chastain in a dual role, Jay Duplass, and a breakout, naturalistic performance from young actress Arabella Olivia Clark. Based on the award-winning novel by “Bird Box” author Josh Malerman entitled “Incidents Around the House” and produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster / Blumhouse, the trailers might have telegraphed something entirely different from the what the actual movie is about and its heady, heavy family and parenting themes.
We open on Rob Savage's career thus far - first movie at 19 years old, then a breakout, screenlife horror film called “Host”, then Stephen King’s The Boogeyman - and then dive into why this movie got a D+ Cinemascore and question WHY many are saying this is Chastain’s “career worst performance”. Is this for adults or is a dark fairy tale told from the point of view of an 8 year old girl? Find out which one of us gets crushed by expectations and which host really dug it.
