For a century, health had an address. In China, it no longer does.
Christophe Jauquet and his AI thinking partner Thalia Muses unpack how six of China's biggest companies — from six completely different industries — have each built their own "front door" to everyday health, right inside the apps people already use.
The signals (six doors into the same house):
Meituan (food delivery): a "Health Butler" AI assistant inside the app you use to order dinner — symptom triage, online consultation, and medicine at your door within the hour. Reach: 250,000 pharmacies, 440,000 medical institutions, 430 million users.
Ant Group / Alipay: "Ant Afu", an AI health companion next to your wallet — it links the health worry to your money and insurance. ~30 million monthly users, 10 million health questions a day.
Douyin / ByteDance: "Xiaohe AI Doctor" — care appearing between the videos: scan a medicine pack, upload a lab result, slide from a symptom straight into an AI consultation.
Alibaba: "Anzhen'er", an AI agent that works like a GPS through the hospital maze — connected to 2,000+ institutions and guiding 200 million people.
JD Health: AI doctor "Dawei" plus AI Hospital 1.0 (Sept 2025) — health built into the physical layer (connected devices, pharmacy, logistics) alongside AI GPs, pharmacists and digital twins of real doctors.
Ping An: the insurer's long game — an AI doctor that screens symptoms, manages chronic conditions, even arranges someone to accompany you to hospital. 90 million active users.
Why it matters: when six unrelated industries move the same way at once, it's not a strategy — it's a shift. Health is no longer a place you go; it's a layer inside the life you already live. The real battle isn't who has the smartest medical AI — it's who sits closest to the moment a vague worry becomes an action. Your next competitor in health might be a grocery or a payments app. Christophe connects it to the Customer Transformation model (people don't pay for the product; they pay for who they become — a worried parent becoming a calm one) and to consumer-driven health.
