What do hypnotherapy, mantra, and prayer have in common—and what can they teach us about the power of the mind to influence our health?
Today, I’m joined by Danny Miranda, a certified hypnotist, to explore the connections between Ayurveda, hypnotherapy, and spiritual healing—and how attention, repetition, and the meaning we give our experiences can shape our inner world.
Modern hypnosis developed through the work of figures like Franz Mesmer in the eighteenth century and James Braid in the nineteenth. Long before that, India’s Vedic traditions preserved sacred teachings through chanting, with sound and precise recitation at the heart of spiritual practice.
These traditions have distinct histories and purposes, but exploring them together raises fascinating questions about the relationship between words, awareness, and experience.
In hypnotherapy, focused attention and therapeutic suggestion can help people change their responses to sensations and experiences. In mantra practice, chanting, and prayer, sound and repetition can become anchors for concentration, devotion, and contemplation.
Through an Ayurvedic lens, we’ll also consider the mind’s prominent role in samprapti—the process through which disease develops—and what that relationship can teach us about caring for the whole person.
Join us as we bring ancient wisdom and modern inquiry into a conversation about attention, belief, and the role of the mind in healing.
