The Zohar on Torah, Prayer, and the Journey from Tish’a
BeAv to Naḥamu 

As we emerge from Tish’a BeAv and begin the journey
toward Shabbat Naḥamu, the Zohar offers a surprising perspective on one of the
Torah’s most heartbreaking moments. Moshe Rabbeinu stands at the border of
Eretz Yisrael after forty years of faithful leadership, yet his heartfelt plea
to enter the Land is denied. Rather than focusing on Moshe’s prayer alone, the
Zohar leads us through a remarkable exploration of the Tree of Life, the soul’s
nightly return to its Creator, and the true nature of prayer offered with
humility. 

Drawing upon the teachings of the Zohar, Rabbi Akiva’s
timeless parable of the fish and the water, King David’s midnight awakening to
Torah, and King Ḥizkiyahu’s prayer in the face of an impossible decree, we
discover that Judaism does not promise a life without disappointment. Instead,
it teaches us how to remain connected to HaShem when the answer is “not yet”—or
even “no.” This class explores how Torah becomes our Tree of Life, how every
morning is a renewed gift of the soul, and how sincere prayers are never lost,
