Jeffrey Tadlock grew up around cameras, his dad was an advanced amateur with a Nikon film setup, and early years photographing BMX and skateboarding events taught him camera settings before he really knew what he was doing. A decade long gap ended in 2016 when he picked up his wife's old Nikon and the fire came back.
Based in Ohio, Jeffrey has built a life around landscape photography as a creative outlet alongside a headshot business, YouTube channel and the Shutter Nonsense podcast. A sunset on Lake Erie shot on his phone was the moment that shifted his focus from documentary snapshots to images that try to convey how a place actually feels.
In this episode Jeffrey talks about his patient approach to working scenes particularly waterfalls, the value of revisiting locations like Hocking Hills and Death Valley, and why he defines success as enjoying the process rather than chasing great images. His natural, true to scene editing philosophy is refreshing too.
