Werewolf the Podcast: Belphastus the Sorcerer Revealed | Ancient Evil, Dark Magic & Horror (Episode 273)

Belphastus the Unclaimed finally reveals the horrifying truth about what he is — an ancient sorcerer who has survived for thousands of years by feeding on human fear, hatred, misery and despair.

In this dark fantasy horror episode of Werewolf the Podcast, Belphastus tells his story in his own words. Long before modern civilisation, he discovered that human suffering could become a source of supernatural power. Fear made him stronger. Hatred gave him energy. But despair was the greatest nourishment of all.

Over thousands of years, Belphastus learned that he did not need to create every war, plague or tragedy himself. He only needed to manipulate people. A suggestion placed in the right mind could turn neighbours against one another, transform fear into hatred and turn hatred into violence.

But Christianity presented Belphastus with an unexpected enemy: love, forgiveness and hope.

His encounter with Bernard of Clairvaux, the medieval Christian saint and Cistercian monk, becomes one of the most important moments in his long existence. Bernard does not respond to Belphastus with hatred or revenge. Instead, he offers compassion and forgiveness — something Belphastus finds far more dangerous.

Now hiding in the ancient Brotonne Forest, Belphastus begins rebuilding his supernatural power. With the help of Pier, he prepares an ancient stone circle and uses a forgotten forest spirit to create something monstrous.

His plan is simple.

Create fear.

Turn fear into anger.

Turn anger into hatred.

Turn hatred into violence.

And turn violence into despair.

Because despair belongs to Belphastus.

Featuring ancient sorcery, dark magic, medieval horror, Christian mythology, forest spirits, supernatural monsters and the continuing mythology of Werewolf the Podcast, this episode reveals the origins and methods of one of the series' most dangerous characters.

Belphastus has spent thousands of years manipulating humanity.

Now he is ready to begin again.

And somewhere in the ancient forest, something is waiting to be unleashed.
