Solis Minerals Ltd chief executive officer Mitch Thomas talked with Proactive about preparations for a 5,000-metre drilling program at the Cucho Copper Project in Peru and exploration progress across the company’s copper and lithium portfolio.
Thomas said the initial Cucho campaign would comprise approximately 10 holes across three target areas. With 34 holes already permitted, the company could expand the program depending on results. He explained that surface mapping, molybdenum identified at surface and geophysical work had helped refine the targets and extend the interpreted system northwards.
“We want a major discovery, and we’re going to get there through drilling,” Thomas said.
The Solis Minerals (ASX:SLM) update also covered Cinto, the company’s wholly owned copper project in Peru. Thomas said drilling had reached the second hole of a planned five-hole, 2,500-metre program designed to test whether surface copper mineralisation and geophysical targets indicate a larger porphyry system at depth.
In Brazil, Thomas said drilling at Mandacaru had been completed and the Campo Grande program was being completed, with assays pending. He identified forthcoming laboratory results as potential shareholder catalysts and said the company would focus on assays rather than visual drilling assessments.
Thomas also described the company’s funding position as strong despite challenging market conditions, with four exploration opportunities supporting its search for a significant discovery.
