Sticky Jazz Interview Paul Litteral and Angie O'Niell

Dela

I don't interview Jazz musicians very often, this time around I got some all stars, Paul Litteral and Angie O'Niell. I interviewed Paul about the Outrageous 8 during the pandemic, and The Paul Litteral Band recently released an album "The Litteral Truth", a Jazz album doing a lot of great covers of old Rock Classics. They covered Steely Dan to The Specials just doing their magic with these old songs.

They enlisted the help of Anna Orbison on vocals for some of the tracks. And explained the purpose behind each song and why they chose them.

We talked a lot about the days when there were white and black folks playing rock in the same bands, and how the labels put an end to that.

Angela gave us a glimpse of her brief stint in trashy horror films, while Paul told stories of being rented out between bands, James Brown, Robert Plant, and Dan Hartman, and back and forth. There is so much they both covered that the stories alone are worth listening to this episode
