At some point, this stopped being just a book I was writing.
The process started doing something to me.
In Part 1B of my journey writing The Retail Leader Paradox, I talk about the moment I realized the book might actually have something, why I had to stop trying to sound like an author, and what rewriting taught me about discipline, patience, and vulnerability.
But the biggest realization came later.
Writing forced me to revisit professional experiences I thought I had already dealt with. Some things I had moved past. Others, I realized, I had simply covered with productivity.
That's when the writing became more than writing.
The deeper I went into the book, the harder it became to hide from myself.
