Today, September 5, we celebrate the feast of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, a contemporary saint who led a radical life of service to “the poorest of the poor” in the slums of India's capital, tending to the dying and taking in forgotten orphans.
Mother Teresa’s fruitful vocation has remained manifest since her death in 1997 in the work of her order, carried on by priests, brothers, lay volunteers, and 4,500 sisters in 133 countries.
Ave Maria! Come, Holy Spirit, come! To Jesus through Mary!
Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
