Award-Winning Historian Explains What We Get Wrong About the American Revolution | Dr. Richard Bell

Award-winning historian Richard Bell, professor of history at the University of Maryland and author of The American Revolution and the Fate of the World, joins the World XP Podcast to separate the mythology of America’s founding from the much messier history underneath it. We discuss why the Revolution was about far more than taxes and tea, the economic and territorial interests of the Founding Fathers, why many colonists remained loyal to Britain, how the Boston Tea Party changed King George III’s thinking, the forgotten importance of the Caribbean, and why France joined the war primarily to weaken Britain rather than simply support American liberty.
