In the summer of 2004, Vince Gilmer, a physician in Western North Carolina, murdered his 60-year-old father and left his body on the side of a country road in Virginia. When Dr. Benjamin Gilmer (no relation) arrived at Vince's former clinic to accept a new job, he began hearing stories about the former Dr. Gilmer. The now-incarcerated country doctor didn't seem like the type who would have committed a violent crime, especially against a family member, and Benjamin had questions. He shared what he learned about what was really ailing Vince Gilmer on NPR and a book he published in 2024. Renee shares Vince's medical diagnosis and where he is today.
