Chris Kocher plays for New York PONY an elite-level club men’s team. With PONY, Chris won a national title in 2018, and came in 3rd in 2019. Chris is a 3-time member of Ultiworld’s All-Club Men’s 1st team winning it from 2017 to 2019. In 2019, Chris was the 2nd runner up for Men’s Club POTY and in 2018 he was named 2nd runner up for Men’s Club OPOTY. Prior to PONY, Chris played a year with Truckstop and his college ultimate at George Washington University. On the world’s stage, Chris has represented the US 4 times including on the 2017 World Games team that won Gold. He was set to part of the US men’s team for the 2020 WUGC that has been cancelled. Chris played for Sydney Colony at the World Ultimate Club Championships in 2018 that won a silver medal in the open division.

In this interview, Chris shares his journey from Paideia HS to New York Pony and we get to hear about what led him to move to Australia to play for Colony during the 2018 World Ultimate Club Championships. We also do a deep dive into the mindset of an elite level player, what it takes to grow and get better, and we learn about the switch in mentality for the New York PoNY program.
