Good communication is at the foundation of every healthy relationship we have…personal, professional, romantic, family or friendship.
In this episode of TheUnbreakable Wisdom Show, I’m talking about what clear communication really requires, including why assumptions create so many unnecessary problems, how the stories we make up influence the way we respond, why listening is about understanding rather than waiting for our turn to speak, and why emotional safety does not mean avoiding uncomfortable conversations.
We also get into something I think matters tremendously…learning to stop dragging the past into every new conversation. When we assume we already know what someone is going to say, how they are going to respond or what they meant, we don’t leave much room for anything new to happen.
Healthy relationships don’t require perfect communication. They require people willing to clarify instead of assume, listen instead of interpret, have the conversations that need to be had and repair things when communication breaks down.
