Your Relationship With Yourself: The Power of the Pause

September is all about RELATIONSHIPS on The Unbreakable Wisdom Show, and this week we’re talking about one of the most important relationships you will ever have…the relationship you have with yourself.

My guest Heather Carroll joins me for a conversation about emotional reactivity, learning to recognize what is happening in your body and creating enough space between what happens to you and how you respond.

We talk about those moments when something triggers you and you immediately want to react, defend yourself, shut down, people please or make a decision from an emotional state. Heather shares simple breathwork and grounding practices that can help interrupt that reaction and bring you back to center.

We also get into the importance of white space…something most of us have almost completely eliminated from our lives. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is put down the phone, stop filling every available minute and give yourself enough quiet to think, process and simply BE.

One of my biggest takeaways from this conversation is that reactivity is never connected to your future self. It is always connected to your past self. If you want to move forward differently, learning how to pause, breathe, become aware of what is happening within you and respond from a more grounded place is a pretty powerful place to begin.

Plus, Heather and I both give you some homework you can start practicing immediately.
