Gypsy Rose Blanchard spent years inside Chillicothe Correctional Center after pleading guilty to second-degree murder for her part in Dee Dee Blanchard’s death. She later described prison as the place where she could finally work on her education, develop friendships, and discover who she was. That account sits alongside the serious crime she admitted committing.
Her lawyer recalled that she gained fourteen pounds in county jail. Stepmother Kristy Blanchard said Gypsy told her she would choose incarceration over returning to her mother. Those accounts offer a window into her earlier isolation, while leaving open difficult questions about responsibility and recovery.
Gypsy’s release in December 2023 started a second public life. She was married to Ryan Anderson, but the relationship ended shortly afterward. She reunited with Ken Urker, a man she had been engaged to while serving her sentence, and together they welcomed daughter Aurora. The attention around her grew as those relationships changed.
A livestream in July 2025 showed Ken trying to end the broadcast while Gypsy appeared to have been drinking and reached toward the phone. That recording was widely interpreted by viewers who had no access to what happened before or after the clip.
Ken died on October 1, 2026. Law enforcement reported no evidence of foul play at the time, while toxicology and the official cause of death had yet to be resolved in the sources reviewed.
