The Omen is a film that exists in a time of transition for the horror genre, and while it’s not exactly scary, it does get you thinking about the larger conspiratorial cult that has infiltrated the Church and is attempting to bring about the Antichrist. The film doesn’t spend much time forcing the viewer to watch a crazy child hellbent on murder, but instead forces us to contend with the strange occurrences that transpire because of Damien. Suicidal nannies, Satanic nannies, supernatural photographs, scary dogs, and creepy priests. It’s a great discussion, and we’re happy to report that Father Spiletto, despite being a former cultist, has all his needs taken care of now that he has a withered arm and a goopy eye.
