1402: Being Merle Oddbody // Spiritual Lessons from the Novel Hoodlum (Eric Ludy)

Merle Oddbody is a very unexpected and humorous character in the novel, Hoodlum, written by Eric and his son Hudson (view it on Amazon here).

Merle Oddbody is synonymous with weakness, foolishness, and being a stranger in this earth—things that most of us labor hard to avoid. If we had the opportunity to transform into one of the characters from the Hoodlum universe, we would likely not pick to become Merle. We would likely lean towards becoming a character like Will Scarlett, Robin Hood, Charles Blakeney, Lady Marion, or Ambrick Miller. All good sensible choices. And yet, Jesus chose to become a Merle Oddbody. If we can learn to see what God sees, we would see that weakness is actually the secret avenue to strength.
