The Philadelphia Phillies shake off base-running blunders for 4-2 victory in 10 innings against the Los Angeles Angels!
Cristopher Sanchez tossed an absolute gem over seven scoreless innings allowing just two hits, with one walk and eight strike outs. The lefty through 91 pitches in his outing and lowered his ERA on the season to 2.52
Unfortunately, Sanchez’ 17th win on the season will have to wait as Jonathon Bowlan came on in relief in the 8th inning and lost a 12-pitch at-bat against Zach Neto. Neto took Bowlan deep for a solo shot in the 8th to tie the game at one.
In extra’s, the Phillies took a 4-1 lead after a Kyle Schwarber bloop RBI double to center followed by a Trea Turner two-run single to right.
The Phillies got on the board first with a Brandon Marsh RBI single to center field in the 2nd inning. The Phils looked poised for more runs in the inning as they loaded the bases with one out, but Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner both flied out to left in a 36-pitch inning by Angels starter Ryan Johnson.
In the 8th, Trea Turner and Bryce Harper lead off the inning with a single and a walk, but that didn't lead to runs as Turner was picked off before Harper was caught trying to steal home.
In the 10th, Brandon Marsh would add another base running blunder in the 10th when he tried to take third on a ball hit in front of him, but was thrown out.
