Nolan McLean delivered over seven innings. Juan Soto returned to the New York Mets lineup. It all added up to a 6-2 win for the Mets on Saturday afternoon.
Let's start with McLean, who continues to make a late charge into the National League Rookie of the Year conversation. Today's start of seven innings and just one run against him certainly helps his case. It was the fourth time this season that McLean has gone seven innings in a start.
A much better day for the Mets bats, who got a boost before the game with the return of Soto to the lineup. Jared Young had a big day, with 3 hits and 3 RBI including a huge triple in the 5th to give the Mets the lead.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Mets will try and start up a winning streak and win this series with Zac Thornton on the mound.
