In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul holds up a mirror to a church that thought it had arrived. They were sophisticated, theologically informed, spiritually experienced. They gathered around impressive teachers and prided themselves on their wisdom. They were, by all appearances, doing quite well.
But Paul's assessment? "You are still worldly—mere infants in Christ."
