This message from Philippians 2 confronts the great sin of pride—the anti-God state of mind that competes with God, tears relationships apart, leads to destruction, and is nearly impossible to see in ourselves. Drawing from C.S. Lewis and the culture of Philippi (and our own), it shows that Rome promoted self, our culture expresses self, but Jesus emptied Himself. True humility is not thinking less of yourself but counting others more significant, following the way of the Lamb who went low so God could exalt Him. The invitation is to reject self-assertion, put yourself aside, and walk in the same mind that was in Christ.
