Good afternoon, I'm _ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened up 96-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 46,070 on turnover of 12.5-billion N-T. Government preparing search and rescue team after Nepal‑Tibet flood The government says its has prepared Taiwan's national search and rescue team to travel to Nepal following the deadly flash floods near the Nepal‑China border earlier this week. According to the National Fire Agency, it has ordered the national special search and rescue team and rotating (輪流) units from Tainan, Hsinchu City and Chiayi County to prepare for departure. Fire Agency Director‑General Hsiao Huang‑chang says although Taiwan has yet to receive a request for help, the national special rescue and research team will respond in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to any such requests from affected countries. And the foreign ministry says there have been no reports of any Taiwan nationals being trapped or affected by the disaster. Russia Launches Attacks on Ukraine with Drones and Missiles Russia has launched a major attack on Ukraine that targeted nine cities with missiles and drones. The assault began Wednesday night and continued into Thursday. The strikes hit areas such as the capital Kyiv and caused civilian casualties. Ukrainian officials say that Russia builds up missile stocks to exhaust (用完，耗盡) air defenses. Ukraine has targeted Russian sites including online retailers in response. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy emphasized the need for more air defense support from the United States and Europe. Zelenskyy is due to visit Moldova which reported drones breaching its airspace. The ongoing conflict has raised concerns among Russia's neighbors about a potential wider conflict. TRUMP SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER RENAMING LAKE ONTARIO 'LAKE AMERICA' AS CANADA REJECTS THE MOVE US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario as "Lake America," deepening the rift with Canada that has already triggered (觸發) retaliatory tariffs worth billions of dollars. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has rejected the name change, saying Canadians will continue to use the lake's original name, which derives from an indigenous Wendat word more than four hundred years old. Jagruti Dave, our reporter in Washington, says the executive order has limited practical effect beyond US federal maps, and other countries are unlikely to adopt the new name. Malaysia to Repatriate Myanmar Nationals Malaysia is set to repatriate nearly 1-thousand-500 Myanmar nationals this weekend as part of a voluntary program. The Home Ministry announced Thursday that this is the first phase of a broader (更廣泛的) effort involving 5,000 eligible individuals. The first group, identified by Myanmar’s government, will be sent back on Sept. 29 on Myanmar's navy vessels. As of Aug. 15, the ministry said over 10-thousand Myanmar nationals were held in immigration detention depots (拘留所).
