When God created humanity, He made both male and female in His image (Genesis 1:26–28), entrusting them with a shared calling and responsibility. Prof April Westbrook explains that Pentecostalism is inherently egalitarian because the Holy Spirit empowers all believers, regardless of gender, age, or status. With the Fall, however, this God-given empowerment became distorted, and domination and gender hierarchy entered human relationships. In Christ, there is redemption and restoration—a return to God’s original intention of shared responsibility, mutual submission, and Spirit-empowered partnership.
