I just canceled my NAR membership after 16 years, along with my MLS, my local boards, all of it. 

And I'm still a fully active agent making money in real estate.

Before you get excited and think this is your way out, it's not. The vast majority of agents should never do what I just did. This only works because of the business I spent 16 years building. But it taught me something about how this business actually works that I wish I understood a decade ago.
