Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) is telling Senate leadership to cancel the August break and stay on the floor as long as it takes to pass the SAVE America Act. Sens. Rick Scott (Fla.) and John Kennedy (La.) have now backed him up. The bill requires documentary proof of citizenship to register and a real photo ID to vote. That’s it: commonsense election integrity that every American understands. Yet Democrats are united against it, and a handful of Republicans keep blocking it. Leadership says there’s “not enough time” and “not enough votes.” Lee’s response? Object to the recess and force a roll-call vote. With the midterms roughly 100 days away, this is the last realistic window to lock in basic safeguards before another election cycle.
