It’s been eight years since the Pentagon underwent a major restructuring of its acquisition bureaucracies, splitting it into two separate organizations overseen by two undersecretaries; one for research and engineering and one for acquisition and sustainment. And according to one of those current undersecretaries, it turned out to be the right decision. Emil Michael is the undersecretary of Defense for research and engineering. He talked about it with Federal News Network’s Jared Serbu.
